You might be forgiven for thinking the advert reads “free wifi” - but no, the ad for a home on sale includes the offer of “free wife.”
That is because an estate agent in
Indonesia is offering this unusual incentive for buyers of a two bedroom
bungalow - they can marry the owner for free.
The internet advertisement for the
house at Yogyakarta on Java island says it is priced at IDR999m (equivalent to
about £50,000) and includes a “rare offer”.
"Buy at the asking price and
take the owner as your wife (terms and conditions apply)" says the
advertisement, which also pictures the owner, a 40 year old widow and beauty
salon owner called Wina Li.
Wina, a mother of two children, has
had to explain the advertisement to the police and says there is nothing
untoward as she is "looking for a husband anyway."
She said she originally intended
the estate agent to tell friends that she was looking for a buyer and had
jokingly commented that she also wanted a husband, without expecting the
advertisement to include both.
