Hotspots has been released, showing "The best UK towns & cities for
landlord investment" based on Annual Yield calculations. The top 10 are
listed below and I am pleased to say Southampton is placed at 6th in
the UK

However the above table should be taken with a pinch of salt as averages can be misleading and include all types of lettings including DSS, student, family and professional in a whole host of property types. Here in Southampton we achieve sub 6% on prime flats and houses, between 6% and 7% on good secondary and over 8% on student and ex-council stock. Clearly your level of capital growth will vary with each asset class, so it is not all about yield!

need to ensure you buy the right type of property in the right area and don’t
overpay, it can take years to get it back. We know the Southampton market
